Since its inception, MJ Peterson has been deeply rooted in heritage, and strong family values. Immediately following the stock market crash of 1929, Detroit homebuilder Marvin John Peterson-better known as M.J.-moved to Buffalo, New York in pursuit of opportunity. With his four brothers, M.J. built the homes that formed Buffalo's first wave of suburban expansion, setting the stage for decades of growth across Western New York. In the wake of one of America's darkest times, a family company devoted to rebuilding the American Dream was established.
Over the decades, MJ Peterson steadily built upon its roots in home building to become a full-service real estate company. Its reach grew to encompass new home construction, residential and commercial sales, land development, rentals and leasing, domestic and international relocation, as well as property management for both market-rate and HUD-sponsored housing. MJ Peterson has constructed over 6,000 residential homes, owns and manages 3,000 conventional and government-assisted rental properties, formulating a diverse portfolio that reflects generations of expertise and vision.

Today, 95 years later — at MJ Peterson, we are still grounded in those principles.
